Birkenstock has a full team focusing on product design and development and
customer service. In November 2005, Stephan Birkenstock, who comes from a family
with over 230 years of shoe making experience, founded the Alpro Pro Fashion LP
in the United States. They are located in Petaluma, California just 35 miles
from San Francisco. They have an unusually sophisticated and competent staff
that is always interested in long term relationships. We are proud to be a part

The quality of our styles and materials is subject to constant testing. Before
production even begins, strict tests are conducted. You can rest assured that
our products have the promised longevity when subjected to rigorous demands.
Only long lasting products offer visual and palpable quality. Durability of
footbeds and soles is checked with the help of an endurance test device. A
number of claws imitate the strain placed on the material by daily walking.
100,000 trouble free bendings must be executed. Resistance to electricity,
water, oil, and grease as well as abrasion and heat are also simulated and
extensively tested under conditions as close to reality as possible. Only after
repeated testing under the same conditions and if all demands are completely met
is the production finally released for production.
Only the best natural raw materials are used. High quality cork grains from the
bark of the cork oak tree in combination with latex harvested from the resin of
the rubber tree. Alpro foam suits best for our soft footbeds because of it's
flexible and shock absorbing properties.
